Planning Your Baby's Nursery Should Be Fun

During the first six months, the baby should sleep in the parents bedroom in their own little crib. They should sleep on their back having their feet close to the crib foot.

The baby nursery will come into play once the baby is at an age where he or she can be safely moved to their own room. Although there is plenty of time to plan and prepare the nursery room, most young couple love to plan this way ahead, while the mom is still pregnant.

Floor covering is one of the aspects that need to be taken into account. A carpeting that is warm, cozy and safe is the preferred method, however many people also use real wood flooring and vinyl. When bathing the baby, a non-slip carpet needs to be added to the area to avoid any accidents. Also small rugs can be easily used to protect from spills.

EVerything should be within easy reach when changing the baby so that he is never left unattended. Babies can move very fast and can fall down easily if they are not properly supervised at all times. If the baby's room is used for feeding, the mommy should be sitting comfortably as the feeding position will have to be kept for quite a while. Extra support such as cushions are welcome for supporting the back at all times.

The phone should be also close at hand so it can be used immediately in case of emergencies. Also as per Murphy's law, it will start ringing as soon as the mom sat down to breast feed. Family and friends are never long away during these first few months after the baby, Nursery Furniture, is born.

The decor of the nursery room should be lively and full of imagination, as this is the room that the child will grown up in. Proper measurements have to be taken before any new furniture is purchased and brought home. The best way to go about it is to sketch out the room and then plan adding the crib, the toys for the baby and any dresser that will hold the clothes and any books for later on.

Depending on the budget there are various options available and one should never settle for the first furniture store visited. There are always cheaper, yet very beautiful alternatives to more expensive ones.

As mentioned above, baby safety should come first. No matter how cute or fancy the room is, the baby needs to feel safe. Particularly during the first few years, as the child is prone to slips and falls, it is important that adequate safety is added to the room. The furniture should be round edged, wall paint should not be heavily chemically treated and the floor should not be slippery. Adding a non slip tape on the floor is a great way to ensure that accidental falls are not a daily routine in the life of the child.

As the baby takes their first steps outside of the crib, they need to feel safe and protected at all time. By following some of the advice mentioned above, much will be done in ensuring that the baby's nursery is as perfect as it can ever be.
