Contemporary Baby Nursery Design

Modern d้cor has gained the reputation of being an unforgiving, somewhat less than cozy style for any part of the home. Perhaps this is the reason that contemporary nursery themes are having a difficult time getting off the ground when compared to other, more traditional nursery decorating styles. Modern may not be every mom's idea of the perfect nursery, but to say that there are no fans at all would be a gross understatement.

The phrase modern interiors might bring to mind unwanted trips to the doctor or dentist. Slick chairs, straight lines and bright plastic found its way into the office and waiting rooms a couple of decades ago for good reason. They are easy to clean and even with a pile of old out-dated magazines piled on top, they manage to maintain a certain amount of dignity in the face of extreme adversity. Somebody finally had a light bulb moment and came to the realization that the qualities that made modern furniture design good for germ ridden waiting areas in medical facilities would be an extremely handy fit for a nursery. How easy to spray some anti-bacterial spray on the smooth un-blemished surfaces and wipe it off with a feeling of having done some good against the onslaught of cold or flu season.

Even if you aren't a fan of blasting everything in the house with spray bottles full of the proper ratios of bleach and water, you've got to appreciate how sophisticated and worldly modern furniture designs have become. Here's another feature of minimalist d้cor; once the furniture takes the place of traditional baby furniture the nursery seems to have expanded. What is it about this stuff that makes the room seem bigger? It's amazingly effective at making the most crowded space seem more airy and light.

The utter simplicity and use of basic angles and lines carries the eye in such a way that almost makes you feel that your view is sliding across the room. The fresh, vivid colors in other forms would be irritating, but somehow the rules change when the shift to modern, contemporary, Nursery Furniture, decorating has been made. If your family is prone to allergies and you fear that the newborn may follow suit, this may be just the ticket to a sneeze free baby nursery theme.

No more dust catching nursery window treatments to vacuum. No more doilies on the arms of an overstuffed chair to launder and starch, not to mention the dust cloud flying from the nursery glider cushions every time you plop down on them. Modern interior design may not fit in your home or in your dreams of a proper nursery, but it definitely has its place in some nurseries.
